Autumn Winter Nail Polish Trends 2015

Trends, especially fashion trends, I  try to not follow them too much, I find it can be a bit overwhelming and if I'm honest a bit of a waste of money. What's the point in buying the latest 'it' dress for it to be considered out of fashion within a week or two. That being said, I like to inject trends into my 'style' in other ways, for example, through accessories and an easy way to be on trend without having to break the bank is through our nails; so here's a few of my favourite polishes that will keep me bang on the autumn nail trend this season!

My wardrobe tends to be rather simple, consisting of a lot of black, grey, white and navy with a splash of colour thrown in here and there so as much as I like to keep my nails nude, a splash of colour can really help brighten things up on those colder, darker days! This coming autumn/winter season saw the catwalk saturated with two main trends, a classic, well-kept nude nails and the alternative, my favoruite;the jewel tones (kept in a short, rounded style).

Blue is the colour of the upcoming season, Costello Tetraplegia and Karen Walker's shows both showcased metallic blues with varying undertones. Electric and metallic, a favourite of mine is Model's Own 'Dream Stream'. What's great about this trend is that you can go brighter, darker, lighter, for a darker look I love the Max Factor Max Effect Mini in 'Cloudy Skies', it's one of those shades where upon application it look's really dark, almost black but as soon as this light hit it, you get this beautiful, rich midnight blue colour! A great alternative to black too! If darker isn't your thing, why not try going for a lighter, turquoise shade, I like Rimmel's 60 second polish in 'Green with envy'.

The Chris Gelinas show saw the models work a lilac, mauve polish and whilst that's lovely, for me white based, pastel polishes I consider to be more spring/summer so I thought I would have a rummage through my collection to see if I could find something a bit more jewel toned and that's when I discovered this Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in 240 Amethyst. This one was actually given to me by an aunt who no longer wanted it, but I'm so glad she passed it on because this is easily my favourite from my choices for this post. Two coats and you have this gorgeous metallic vibrant purple shade that has a blue shimmery undertone! See blue, metallic...keeping with these trends!!

You can't have an Autumn trend post and not mention berry tones. The classic ruby red polishes that are favourable all year round are traded in this season for berry tones. Both Marchesa and Derek Lam showcased some serious burgundy shades at their autumn shows. I love the Rimmel Salon Pro in 402 'Urban Purple'. Berry shades are most certainly the new red I feel, they look so classy and elegant and go with everything!
