AUTUMN BASE MAKE UP 2017

Autumn Base Make Up 2017 NYX Rimmel Loreal Topshop Base Foundation Highlighter Concealer Seasonal Face

One of my favourite things about the tail end of the year and the colder seasons is the chance to wear more make-up and whilst I try and stick to my less is more philosophy I can't help but reach for those heavier duty products; like a foundation instead of my usual BB Creams. Over the last few weeks, I've been rediscovering old loves along with trying some new ones, all of which have resulted in a base that I'm really loving for autumn 2017.

As I said, I always find that the colder months gives an opportunity to wear more make-up, no more sweating it off in the summer heat. That being said, I always find that my skin needs that extra coverage during these seasons too - perhaps this is something to do with the ever-changing contrasting weather; cold, wet and windy outside and warm central heating indoors can play havoc with dry patches skin - anyway, the coverage I need tends to be for redness throughout the t-zone area of the face.

To create an even base, I've swapped out my BB Cream and switched back to my beloved L'Oreal True Match Foundation in 1.N Ivory. I won't go on too much as I've written about it before (here), and if you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know it really is the only foundation that I use and love. I like that even though it has a buildable light to medium coverage it is still very light on the skin; I never feel caked in make-up when I have this on.

Whilst my foundation is great for evening out skin tone I still get those pesky areas of redness around the nose and chin, along with blemishes. To combat this I've been rediscovering my love for the NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer. A little goes a long way and it definitely covers up and redness on the face. I also like that once it has been set with a little powder it lasts a long time, which is great if you're like me and hate having to do touch-ups throughout the day.

One thing I am aware of is how flat make-up can look, especially if you're pale, like me. To add warmth and a little definition back to this base look I've been using my NYX Matte Bronzer along with the blush from my Rimmel London Sculpting Palette in Coral Glow. Both just give my face a little flush of colour without looking or feeling heavily contoured.

The final product I use is one I've been lusting over for a while but only recently purchased, Topshop's Glow Highlighter in Polished. I'm obsessed with it; and when they say a little goes a long way they're not kidding. A tiny amount of this gorgeous cream highlighter adds a lovely radiance to the cheekbones!

These products together have created the perfect autumn base for me with the coverage I need in places but without the heavy, caked look and feel more make-up can often give. What is your perfect autumn base? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
