AUTUMN FAVOURITES 2017

Autumn is well and truly upon us, the leaves are falling from the trees, the jumpers and boots have found themselves being reached for more consistently. The change in season is often the perfect time to change things about in our everyday beauty and skincare routines. This was going to be a monthly favourites post, but I realized that these products have and will no doubt continue to be favourites of mine for the coming months.

First, let's talk skincare; if you've been following my blog for a while you'll know that this year has really been about finding, developing and settling into a routine that really works best for my skin and maintaining that. I've noticed that whilst I've been able to keep my current routine simple which has seen spots become refined to a more hormonal breakout at that time of the month, I have noticed that my skin is a lot drier. This I know is also typical at this time of the year, the constant changing of the colder weather outside to the warmth indoors (central heating) is a contributing factor to these dry patches. I've been loving the L'Oreal Hydra Genius (Normal to Combination) for a while now. I like that it is light in consistency and also that a small amount goes a long way. I'm currently on my third bottle of this and my skin seems to really respond well to it. I find that the addition of Aloe soothes those sometimes sore cracked patches of dry skin, whilst the hyaluronic acid works to hydrate the skin deeper than the surface level.

Speaking of L'Oreal, I have been loving their Pure Clay range of face masks, you can read my review of Purity Mask Here. The Blemish Rescue Mask has been great for me, I've been using once a week just to clear any congested areas like my t-zone. I've found that whilst the consistency is thinner compared with the other masks I've used from the range, it does work better in terms of leaving my skin looking clearer.

Lip balm is essential for me all year round but I often struggle to find one that I actually like. For me, other brands like the Vaseline and Nivea lip balms are just too thick in consistency and feel a bit gloopy upon application. The Burt's Bee's Peppermint and Vitamin E Lip Balm is the complete opposite, I've just purchased my second one and find it applies nicely on the lips and once absorbs leaves my lips feeling nourished and soft. The added Peppermint Oil gives the lips a tingling sensation which is nice as it makes you feel as if it is actually working.

Another thing I have noted is just how much my hair notices the difference in the weather. I don't know if that's a crazy thing to say but during the summer my hair can get quite frizzy and unmanageable. However, in the colder months, I notice it feels a lot drier at the ends and often tends to look a bit dull, so I've been really trying to use more hydrating and deep conditioning products.

The Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer I honestly think is magic, I use this once a fortnight (it's in rotation with another weekly hair mask) and love how soft, nourished, bouncy and manageable my hair feels after using this. It honestly leaves you feeling like you've just left the salon after every use. In between washes, I like to apply the Josh Wood Hair Oil through the ends of my hair to tame, smooth and add shine. This multi-purpose oil I've found really helps hydrate my hair and keep it manageable and frizz free in the same way deep, hydrating conditioners so. I have found that since using both these products my hair feels more hydrated, nourished and just looks so healthy compared to how dry it can be.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your seasonal favourites? Let me know in the comments.
